3 Weeks Later. . .Preparing the Guest Rooms

3 weeks ago . . .
Things began to slow down around our home and yard when
my husband, Greg, had a little mishap with a drill.
He could never re-enact the scenario if he practiced it I’m sure.
He felt a little silly about the whole thing but,
isn’t that the way we feel when crazy accidents happen?
He sliced his foot open about 1 ½ “ right below the inside ankle bone.
Took 5 stitches and 2 weeks to heal properly.
If he didn’t walk at all it would’ve healed a lot faster.
Anyways our RV pad (as those call it) is done only to hear
that the neighbour wants a fence, yahoo!
And all that area will change.

So I took to resting with the yard work and
concentrated on these neat benches
we acquired from our Yoga Studio.
We have 2 long ones and 1 short one.
I love how they (well 1 for now) adds a splash of color to the deck.

Here’s the before picture as it looked for 2 years
sitting in the hot Manitoba sun.

Our deck needs a few accessories to finish it off like a rug but they are so incredibly expensive.
Try explaining that to a man who sees no need for a rug outside.
But the view from the deck is lovely.
We have Goldfish and Koi in our pond.
The warm summers here are great for enjoying your coffee
outdoors in the early morning.

This last picture sort of catches the sun
coming thru the trees and
bouncing off the pond just before dinner.

Off to another project.

Company’s Coming this summer and
the guest rooms downstairs need some comfort.

Let’s start with the beds.  Blah I say.
THE BED is the most important part for your guests stay because
they have to have a good rest and comfort and style needs to be there.
I’ve never made or had a bedskirt so now’s the time.
Doing the math for fabric was NOT going to happen so I winged it.
The Thrift Store had a lot of fabric for $4.30.
Holding it up I said, “that’ll be enough” and bought it.
I cut it into the strips I needed, hemmed it, and began the process.
Because the frame is wood I just stapled it.  I did it in 3 sections.
I began at the head end and ended at the first corner.  I
kept halving the sections until it was all ruffled.

My helper.

Bedroom #2

This room is also a laundry room which you cannot see on the other wall.
I did the gingham paint after watching a Debbie Travis show.
Don’t know why she’s not on TV anymore.
So this is a cheap IKEA bed bought several years ago and
needs some TLC but we won’t keep it for long but it has to do for this summer.
I’m painting it with Chalk Paint because you
don’t need to prep your piece with this paint.

The headboard is huge and needs a decorative piece
or something on it but I’ll get to that yet.

So that’s our last few weeks.
IT’s taken forever to get pictures taken and figure out what to blog.
You know how life goes and the evenings are so short by the time dinner is done and cleaned up.
Well, maybe not totally cleaned up.

Gotta go, hubby made a Pineapple Angel Food Cake s
so I better make the tea.

Till next time.
