Let me
say, I love WINE.
But I
don’t know enough about wine when I go to purchase it. I often look at the labels and decide that if
I like the label, then surely the wine will be exactly to my liking. I find myself drawn to the pretty labels, a sleek
bottle or the one that relates to some décor fashion taste. And often enough I haven’t enjoyed what I
tasted because I had already decided what it should taste like.
Recently
I refinished a wine rack that I purchased at a garage sale.
I was
sluggish in blogging about it because frankly, I didn’t see it as a very
interesting read and I’m not entirely sure of this finish I gave it. It could be so much more, but in time I may change it again. I hear
you can re-paint furniture.
An unrelated incident happened to me the other day.
A friend made the comment that
“family is not made by blood, it’s made by
the love”.
WOW! Not all that enlightening but it did hit
home.
I had reflected
all day on her comment and for some strange reason, when I got home I found
myself staring at the (empty) wine rack on my kitchen counter and a thought
came to me. We are all kind of like wine
bottles. Family included.
Some
bottles are sleek and the label is plain,
Some
bottles are short and the label is fun,
Some
bottles are stout and the label is pretty,
Some bottles
are clear and the label is bold.
Some
bottles are corked, making it hard to open.
Some
bottles are capped, making access easy.
But
what’s inside the bottle? I personally
like a sweeter wine and tend to strongly dislike the bitter tasting ones that make
my mouth pucker.
I found an article on
reading ‘labels’ but I became bored very quickly but I really should take the
time and learn something.
I’m
still going to be drawn by my personal tastes, that’s who I am, but I’m going
to find the right meal to enjoy that bitter wine with the fun label and savour
it. And I’m going to sip that sweet
dessert wine in the sleek bottle and bold label, savouring it as long as I
can.
What
kind of wine would you say you were?
What's your label like?
