Weekend at Home

On a little happier note post . . . wait, I guess this post is all about how I spent this last weekend and it wasn’t all that happy, but we did have a few laughs and some tears again.  But I did manage to get a few odds and ends done with projects.  So, with that said, my husband was diagnosed with Shingles on Thursday, the 10th.  That was the teary part.  We spent a very quiet weekend and it’s allowed me to catch up on a lot of stuff inside.  Greg said I should go do something like go to the mall, that I shouldn't have to spend a lovely weekend indoors just because he was sick. But I’m just not that person to leave my itchy, aching husband home alone while I say, “I’m outta here for a bit”.

So here’s what I did this weekend:

Bunnies are getting a make-over in time for Easter.  Now that I’ve removed all their fuzzy gross hair I’m replacing their skin with fabric.  I'll post those pics at Easter.  I think they are cute, Greg's not so sure about the whole ordeal as he sees we modge podge fabric onto styrofoam bunnies. I sit on the floor in the family room with all my tools in front of me on our huge coffee table.  Greg & I sit downstairs and watch TV as his comfy man chair is down there.  It just doesn’t match in the living room upstairs (sad face). Here's the before pics.

This little cabinet now has some lining.  I used pretty wrapping paper from a gift from my mom.  There are doors that go in those grooves in front and I’m working on covering them but I’ve hit a road block in just what to do.

Yes, I'm showing off my cute clay tags in this photo.
You can add them to anything such as I did on this candle jar
that I covered in paper.

This is the cutest jewelry box I seen in a long time.  I covered up the old dark brown wood with Old White chalk paint.  That color is my favorite!  Then I lined the drawers with pretty scrap booking paper.  I have one regret though.  I should’ve wiped the drawer pulls after painting them.  I may use paint remover yet to do that.
Craig and Luke are using my work room to do a project of their own.  I can hardly wait to see it finished.  It will be so cool in their new home they purchased.  They want to have it done by end of March.  I promised them I'd do a few touch-ups on it before they return to finish it.

I have given this rocking chair a little paint as well.  Underneath is a dark blue color and that made it look old and dumpy.  I’m not sure if I’m 100% satisfied with the results but it is shabby-chic.  It’s armless and a bit smaller than most rocking chairs.  If I don’t sell it as is, I might just change it up again but who knows.

Still no word this week on the results of my kidney match tests I did on February 22nd.  It’s definitely been a few hard weeks.  Lots of tears but there’s always a few laughs too along the way.  Greg has not lost his sense of humour either thru all this.  When we decided to go for a short drive to get out of the house and get a coffee, Greg stood in the entrance with a look of pain on his face and a little slumped to one side, the side that is so sore with Shingles.  I said, “How are you hon, you really want to go?”  He gave 2 thumbs up and a silly grin, “I’m excellent, never been better!”  We both laughed, then teared up at all the luck we were having lately, knowing we were both lying and we looked like crap but didn’t care and left to get a coffee.  The drive was short but it was good to get out for a few minutes.

Talk to you all later,

~ Bonny
